Dear Students and Families of Brown School,

Welcome to E. S. Brown School (welcome back for some)! I’m excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I’m looking forward to a happy and productive school year. We are energized and ready to jump start a year filled with lots of inquiry and exploration!
As a continued effort to provide the best possible educational experience for our students, teachers have been busy over the summer months, fine tuning techniques to bring the most effective instructional strategies back into the classrooms utilizing technology and resources that will assist us in personalizing the students’ experiences at E. S. Brown School. We are also pleased to be able to offer our after school programs again this year with the continuation of the walking club, homework club and academic support. Plans are underway to include additional offerings to the after school programs as we continue to meet the needs of our students. Details on all these programs will be found in future newsletters.
We are pleased to have you as partners in your child’s educational experience here at Brown School. Your involvement and interest in your child’s education will help us to do our job more effectively. As the year progresses, you may have questions or concerns that arise, we encourage you to contact the school and speak with those who might be of help. If you have questions with in-class events, please ask to speak with the teacher. Please feel free to contact me directly with any concerns regarding, but not limited to, the overall program, curricula, or building wide activities at 508-675-7892.
One of our main goals is to continue to develop strong communication ties with the parent/guardian(s) of our students. One way to do that is to utilize the agenda books and handbooks handed out to your child on the first day of school. By reading them, you will have a clear-cut understanding of what the expectations are for the Brown School students. We will also be sending home a monthly newsletter keeping you posted of the activities occurring throughout the year. Please visit our website often, as you will find periodic notices, newsletters and reminders about E. S. Brown School electronically. This is part of our ongoing commitment to communicate more effectively with our families.
We are fortunate to have such an outstanding staff at Brown School. Mr. Gagne, our Head custodian and Mrs. Audet, the Administrative Assistant will be making sure our school runs smoothly. We are excited to welcome several new members to our team; Ms. Joseph, who will be running our Study Island computer classes, Miss Decof and Miss Cabral will be helping out in our fourth grade classrooms, Mrs. Mateus-Mello who joins us this year from the Jr. High School.  Mr. Paul returns to Brown School to join our fifth grade team and Mr. Meehan, who will be taking the place of Ms. Foster for music. Our Special Needs teaching team consists of Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Mateus-Mello, Miss Cabral and Mrs. Ward. Our third grade team includes Mrs. Bushell, Mrs. Walsh, Mrs. Souza and Mrs. Corey. We are pleased to have teachers Mrs. Pascarella, Mrs. Bushell, Miss Decof and Miss Dopart as our fourth grade team.
The fifth grade team consists of Mrs. Cornelison, Ms. Maynard, Mrs. Austin, and Mr. Paul. Our specialists are; Mrs. Mello-Potvin will be working with our reading specialist Mrs. Eastwood and Mrs. Greene returns as our math specialist.
Please refer to the 2010-2011 Important School Dates notice when scheduling vacations and verifying dates for Open House and Parent Conferences. We all strive for the same end result; to foster academic, social, and emotional growth in all Brown School children. Working cooperatively will enhance the successes for everyone involved.  Thank you for visiting our website.
            Here’s to a great year!
