The School Committee Meeting for 1/26/15 has been canceled and is rescheduled to 2/2/15.
Kindergarten Registration

Swansea Public Schools announces registration for children who will be five on or before August 31, 2015. New students who plan on attending 1st grade, who have not previously enrolled, should register at this time. A child must be 6 by the same date to be eligible for 1st grade.

If you have a child who is age eligible who will be attending a private school, your child is welcome to participate in the developmental screening portion of the registration process.

The purpose of the screening is to find children who may have any of the following problems: seeing, hearing, speaking, getting along with others, physical coordination, or other conditions that would affect learning.

International Student Hosting Opportunity
Joseph Case High School is welcoming international students for the spring 2015 semester. As part of the school districtís effort to expand its global education program, we have partnered with the Cambridge Institute of International Education to provide this exciting opportunity.

If you are interested in making a positive impact on the life of an international student, consider becoming a host family! Host families will be given a substantial stipend for providing students with meals, a private room and for welcoming the students into their homes. Support will be available 24/7 from residential coordinators to help coordinate meeting your student upon arrival, keeping you connected with the school community, and mediating issues if they arise. Families of all types, ethnicities, backgrounds and sizes are welcome.

Principal's Message
Dear Students and Families of Brown School,

It is our hope that this website lends easy access to updates and information on activities taking place in our school. One of our main goals is to develop strong communication ties with the parents/guardians of our students. This website is another way to reach out to you as we continue to work in partnership toward enhancing each child's educational experience here at Brown School.

Your involvement and interest in your childís education will help us to do our job more effectively. As the year progresses, you may have questions or concerns that arise, we encourage you to contact the school and speak with those who might be of help. †Any change in transportation will need to be verified.† Please make sure to send a note in with your child if there is a change in the normal drop off or pick up routines such as Surround Care.
Student Drop-Off/Pick-up Procedures

Our morning and afternoon student drop-off and pick-up procedures have changed slightly from last year due to the expansion of a new driveway and drop-off/pick-up area, side lot to the left of the school.

Morning Arrival/Drop-off
All student drop-offs between 8:15 AM. and 8:30 AM will take place in the side parking lot area to the left of the school (south side). Students are not permitted to be dropped off prior to 8:15 AM This parking area has a separate entrance from the circular driveway in front of the school.† During this time, only buses, faculty members, and vehicles displaying a handicap placard will be allowed access to the driveway directly in front of the school.† Parents are asked not to park in the circle area in front of the school as there are numerous parking spots in the side parking lot/drop-off area available.† When dropping students off, it is extremely helpful and more efficient if the driver pulls as far forward as possible in the designated drop-off zone, so that as many vehicles as possible can unload simultaneously onto the playground area.†
If your child arrives to school after 8:40 a.m., please park in the lot to the left of the school and escort your child into the building, using the front main entrance.

Afternoon Pick-up
The student school day ends at 3:05 p.m.† Parents picking their child up should park in the side parking lot area and enter the building through the second back door of the building near the gymnasium.† The hallway outside of the gymnasium will be the parent pick-up location. †Parents must remain downstairs in the lower lobby to ensure the security of the building.† E. S. Brown School Staff will not allow parents to enter the building prior to 2:50 p.m.† Parents must have a government issued photo I.D. to verify their identity and to sign a child out.† If anyone other than a parent/ legal guardian will be picking a student up, the school must have a note notifying the school that the studentís parent/guardian is allowing this person to sign the child out.†
The students must remain our top focus at all times, especially during unstructured times such as dismissal. Your anticipated cooperation is greatly appreciated.†
